About Me

Hi
I am a professional, qualified, female photographer based in Hertfordshire.

Photographs are amazing.....They can hold the history of your family or the emotions of those most special days, whether it's your wedding celebration or a perfect day on the beach.

I am passionate about photography and work hard to capture the atmosphere of your special occasion, from a small gathering at home celebrating a birthday, to the grandest wedding. I like to capture people in a relaxed, candid way, having fun. From children playing in the garden to wedding and party guests greeting old school friends & much loved relatives; All the emotion and spirit which is often lost in a stage managed shot.

I like you to feel at ease with me around, just like one of your guests. I pride myself in giving a professional yet personal service, often sheding a tear during the vows or first dance!

My children's portrait sessions are fun and led by your child's imagination. As a mother I know that children are natural and feel more at ease when playing in a familiar environment and not being asked to pose.

I became a photographer when my Mum and Dad gave me their old Kodak Brownie. I think I was about 6 at the time. I still have it on my desk now, along with my first Canon my Dad gave me when I went to college.

The technical bit.
I studied photography, film and video production full time and graduated with an HND and British Institute of Professional Photographers (BIPP) Professional Qualifying Exam (PQE). My career has included working in photography studios in London and in the Media department at a University.
Following time out specialising as a Mum- I returned to photography. (never really left it - always have a camera with me!)

I hold Public Liability and Personal Indemnity Insurance, a CRB certificate and am a member of the Society of Wedding & Portrait Photographers and thereby adhere to their code of conduct.
I use top of the range professional equipment. I have three cameras with me and carry spares of everything. Infact people often ask 'what's in the bags around my waist?' Well... its batteries- (lots of them), flash diffusers - (rarely used as I never use direct flash. I like to use natural light most of the day and bounced flash in the evening), small torch, group lists given to me by bride and groom, lens cloth, spare tripod mount, extra lenses, rain coats for the cameras ( I never have one -doesn't matter if I get wet!) memory cards - lots of them. (I use several over the course of the day changing them half way through moments such as the ceremony, speeches, first dance and so on, so that if one card fails -which it never as, I havn't lost everything). I also bring a white unbrella, a ladder for group shots, a reflector and something for the bride and groom to sit on if when taking portraits we decide to sit on a bench or grass, plus lipstick, Rennie, paracetamol and chocolate.

What do I love?
Well...
I love my family, photography, chocolate, weddings, films, autobiographies, the seaside, walks in the country, cupcakes, books, maps, my pets, a day out in London, chocolate, handbags, all things vintage, all things contemporary, good food, listening to my daughter sing, vw camper vans, old family photographs, shoes, West End musicals, my son's jokes, cars, parties, history, family holidays, Christmas, bonfire night, gardening and chocolate.

I promise one day to put a photograph of myself on this website, but as I am happier on the other side of the camera, it has always been the last task on my list!

I hope you enjoy looking at my site and please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
